Asthma management update – It’s no longer recommended that anyone with asthma use Ventolin alone. If you only have a reliever inhaler, visit your GP to discuss how you manage your asthma, as you will now also need a preventer inhaler.
Ventolin inhaler dosage per day
Inhale ONE or TWO puffs up to 4 TIMES A DAY (in 24 hours) when required.
Typical dose is 1 or 2 puffs at a time.
During an asthma attack:
Use your inhaler up to 10 puffs, waiting 30 seconds between each puff.
Shake the inhaler well before each use.
For severe attacks, your doctor may prescribe a nebuliser.
However, if you use your salbutamol inhaler more than three times a week, it could indicate that your condition is not well managed. In such cases, your doctor may prescribe a preventive inhaler for daily use to prevent symptoms.
